Privacy Policy
Last updated September 19, 2026
The short version
- Your profile, garage, posts, listings and events are public. Your email address, messages and block list are private.
- We do not sell your information, and the Service carries no advertising.
- Location metadata is removed from photographs before they are uploaded.
- You may delete your account at any time, and everything associated with it is removed.
01Information we collect
Information you provide
- Account information: your email address, a password (stored only as a cryptographic hash, which we cannot reverse) and your username.
- Profile information: any details you choose to add, such as a display name, biography, location and profile photo.
- Garage information: the vehicles you add (year, make and model) and the modifications you list.
- Content: photographs, captions, hashtags, comments, likes, follows, Marketplace listings (including price and location), events you post and RSVPs.
- Messages you exchange with other members.
- Safety and feedback: reports you submit, members you block, and vehicles you submit through “Not listed? Add it.”
Information collected automatically
- Session cookies that keep you signed in. We do not use advertising or analytics cookies.
- Server logs maintained by our hosting providers when your device connects to the Service: IP address, browser and device type, the page requested and the time of the request. These are used to operate and secure the Service.
Photographs and location. Photographs taken on a phone often contain embedded metadata, including the GPS coordinates where they were taken. WheelHub removes this metadata on your device before a photograph is uploaded. We do not collect your device's location; the only location information we hold is what you type in yourself.
02What is visible to others
WheelHub is a public community. Your username, profile, garage, posts, comments, likes, follows, Marketplace listings and events are visible to anyone, including people who do not have an account, along with any location you entered in them.
The following are not public: your email address, your messages (visible only to you and the other participant), the members you have blocked, and the reports you submit. Members you report are not told who reported them.
Information you make public can be copied or shared by others. Consider carefully before posting details such as a license plate, VIN or home address.
03How we use information
- To operate the Service: display your profile and posts, deliver messages, power search, and let members find and follow builds.
- To keep the Service safe: review reports, remove content and accounts that violate our Terms of Service, and detect and prevent abuse and fraud.
- To communicate with you about your account, such as confirming your email address or resetting your password. We do not send marketing email.
- To maintain and improve the Service and diagnose problems.
- To comply with legal obligations.
05Messages
Messages travel over encrypted connections and are visible in the app only to the two participants. Our moderation tools do not display message contents. Messages are not end-to-end encrypted, however, and may be accessed from our database where required by law or to investigate a serious safety concern.
06Retention and deletion
We retain your information for as long as your account exists. You may edit or delete your posts, comments, listings, events and garage vehicles at any time.
Deleting your account — from Edit Garage or through our account deletion page — immediately and permanently removes your account, profile, photographs, posts, comments, likes, follows, listings, events, messages and garage.
Two exceptions apply: reports you submitted are retained without your name so that our moderation records remain complete, and deleted data may persist in our providers' routine backups for a limited period before being overwritten.
07Your rights and choices
- Access and correction: review and update your information in your profile and Edit Garage.
- Deletion: delete your account at any time, as described above.
- Portability: request a copy of your information by emailing support@getwheelhub.com.
- Blocking: block any member to prevent them from viewing your posts or contacting you.
Depending on where you live — including California, the European Economic Area and the United Kingdom — you may have additional rights to know what personal information we hold, to correct or delete it, to restrict or object to its processing, or to receive it in a portable format. We do not sell personal information. To exercise any of these rights, email support@getwheelhub.com. We will respond within 30 days and will not discriminate against you for making a request. Residents of the EEA and UK may also lodge a complaint with their local data protection authority.
08Security
Connections to the Service are encrypted in transit, passwords are stored as cryptographic hashes, and database access controls limit each member to their own content. No system is perfectly secure, and we encourage you to use a password that is unique to WheelHub.
09Children
The Service is not directed to children under 15, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child under 15 has created an account, contact support@getwheelhub.com and we will delete it.
10International data transfers
WheelHub is operated from the United States. Your information is stored and processed by our service providers in the United States and may be processed in other countries whose privacy laws differ from those of your jurisdiction. By using the Service, you consent to this transfer.
11Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We will revise the date at the top of this page and, for material changes, notify you through the Service or by email before the changes take effect.
12Contact
Questions or requests regarding your privacy may be directed to support@getwheelhub.com.
